The Kentucky Derby is an annual horse race held at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY. It is the inaugural race of the Triple Crown, a series of three horse races that very few horses have claimed. Three-year-old-thoroughbred horses compete on a 1.25-mile dirt track in what is known as the fastest two minutes in sports! It also known as the "Run for the Roses". The official flower of the race is the rose and the winner is awarded a spectacular garland of over 400 roses sewn on a satin back. This year the heart stopping race is held on May 4th.
