7 Reasons to Be Engaged in Your Child's School!

Parents play a crucial role in supporting their children's health and learning at school.  Parent/guardian engagement in schools is defined as parents and school staff working together to support and improve the learning, development and health of children and adolescents.  Schools provide a wide range of volunteer opportunities that pair with parental interests to help them be hands-on with their child's school experience.  Also, attending the regular parent/teacher conferences helps build a good relationship with your child's teacher and demonstrates to your child their importance.

Studies have shown that students who have parents engaged in their school lives are more likely to have:

Higher grades and test scores. Better student behavior. Enhanced social skills.

In addition, students who have parents engaged in their school lives are less likely to:

Smoke cigarettes. Drink alcohol. Become pregnant. Be physically inactive.
